Had a chat with a retired structural engineer about drafting scales
I was at a coffee shop in Denver last Tuesday and this old guy saw my blueprints. He told me he always used the 1/4 inch scale for everything, even tiny details. Now I'm wondering if I should ditch the 1/8 scale for stuff like electrical plans has anyone else had an old timer change their workflow like that?

Are you really gonna squint at 1/8 scale for electrical plans? That sounds like a headache waiting to happen.

That "squinting at 1/8 scale" line hit close to home. My eyes are bad enough as it is, so I usually stick with what works for me even if it's not what the old pros recommend. Your mileage may vary, but I've found 1/4 scale keeps me from having to lean halfway across the table like a confused owl.
