Pro tip: Check your state's latest code update before you finish that resi set - caught a firestop change in Ohio last month that would've failed inspection hard.
I was in Columbus looking over a buddy's prints and noticed the 2024 Ohio Building Code now requires a different firestop sealant for penetrations through rated walls in multifamily, and his whole soffit detail was based on the old stuff, so has anyone else run into mid-project code surprises like that?

Oh man yeah that stuff sneaks up on you! I had a project in Denver where we had to rip out half the soffit work because the fire caulk spec changed between when we bid it and when we actually installed. Total headache.

Fire caulk spec changed between when we bid it and when we actually installed" - wait, you mean AFTER you already had it in? That's wild. I've had specs change on me mid-project but never after the material was already sitting on site.
