PSA: Check your layer alignment before you plot, not after

I was working on a set of floor plans for a small office renovation over in Oakwood last week. Had everything looking clean on screen, sent it to the plotter, and walked away. Came back 20 minutes later and half the dimensions were sitting on top of the plumbing lines like a mess. Turns out I had the dimensions on the same layer as the notes for the electrician. Now I do a quick layer check overlay every time before I hit print. Anyone else have a plotting disaster that cost them a reprint?

Wait, you had notes and dimensions on the same layer? That's wild. I once accidentally printed a whole set of elevations with the title block on the wrong scale layer. Looked like a tiny postage stamp in the corner of a huge sheet. Total waste of paper.

And you didn't catch it until it printed? Man, that hurts. I've done that with a whole set of structural plans once. Had the scale set to 1:100 instead of 1:50. Looked like a thumbnail in the middle of the page.
