Spent 2 days fighting a title block that kept shifting on every print, turned out my viewport was snapped to a hidden grid point
I was setting up a sheet set for a small warehouse job off Route 9 and the title block kept landing 1/8 inch off center no matter how many times I moved it. After redoing the whole layout twice I finally zoomed way in and found my viewport was stuck to a stray grid snap node left over from an old base file. Does anyone else keep a cleanup routine for junk nodes before they start laying out sheets, or do you just hunt them down when something goes weird?
Did your snap settings get saved into that base file too? A guy I used to work with had this same thing happen on a strip mall project and it drove him nuts for a week. He'd place the title block, it would look fine, then the next time he opened the sheet it was off again. Turned out there were like forty stray nodes scattered around from some survey file someone pasted in years back. He ended up making a "wipe" layer and just deleting everything outside the print area before he starts any layout now. Takes him five minutes up front but saves him hours of zooming in and cussing.
