Spent $220 on a cheap plotter to save my hand lettering, and it backfired on the second job
I do mostly site plans and small commercial stuff, so I thought a $220 refurbished plotter off a local guy in Mesa would take the hand lettering off my plate. First two weeks it was great, then on a 24x36 set for a tenant buildout it started skipping lines halfway through the title block. I re-plotted the same sheet three times before I figured out the roller was slipping, and I blew a Friday night redoing it by hand with a 0.35 pen. Now I draft everything at 1:1 in model space and just send it to the print shop down the street, costs me $6 a sheet but never failed me. Anyone got a cheap plotter that actually holds up, or is this just how it goes with refurbs?
