Spent 3 hours redoing a foundation plan because the architect's PDF was scaled 1/16" off
Last Tuesday I get a set of PDFs from an architect for a small addition in Grand Rapids and everything looks fine on screen. I lay out the foundation plan, dimension it, send it off, and Thursday morning the contractor calls me saying nothing lines up in the field, the footing is 4 inches off from where it should be. Turns out the architect exported the PDF at 1/16" = 1'-0" instead of 1/8" like the title block said, and I trusted the scale bar instead of checking a known dimension first. Now I gotta redraw the whole sheet for free and the builder is ticked at me even though it ain't my screwup. How do you guys catch stuff like that before it leaves your desk, do you scale off a door width or something every time?
