Spent 6 months drawing ceiling plans wrong before a sparky set me straight

I was putting all my ceiling fixtures on the reflected ceiling plan layer but leaving the joists off entirely. Then this old electrician named Ray pointed out I was basically guessing where the wires could run and it explained why my last 3 commercial jobs in downtown Sacramento had so many field changes. Has anyone else had that moment where a contractor casually pointed out something obvious you'd been missing for months?

Ray the sparky probably saved me from making an even bigger mess of things later.

Yeah, but here's the thing nobody's saying. Ray probably saved you from something way worse than just a messy electrical job. If he was fixing something that was already half-baked, that means there was a real fire risk hiding in there. Faulty wiring isn't just a nuisance, it's the kind of thing that can smolder in your walls for weeks before you even smell smoke. Most folks don't realize how many house fires start from a single loose connection behind a drywall. You might've gotten lucky that Ray caught it when he did instead of having to call my crew out at 2 AM.
