The $60 laser level that paid for itself in one afternoon

I finally broke down and bought a self-leveling cross-line laser for a ceiling grid layout at a Drury Inn here in town. It saved me about four hours of measuring and re-marking compared to my old chalk line and square method. Anyone else find that spending a little on the right tool beats cussing through a job twice?

Four hours? On one afternoon? That's the kind of time sink that makes you want to throw the chalk line in the dumpster. I had to rent one of those lasers for a weekend job once and I swear it paid for itself before lunch. The grid was perfect the first try and I still had enough time to go get a real burger instead of eating a gas station hot dog.
