The drafting table lamp I almost tossed turned out to be the best tool in my shop
I grabbed this ancient fluorescent lamp at a garage sale in Dayton for $5 and nearly threw it out because it flickered so bad. After swapping the starter and giving the reflector a good polish, it lights my whole 1:50 scale layout better than the $120 LED I bought from the big box store. The color rendering is way more natural for matching line weights and shading, which I noticed when comparing my drawings side by side. Anyone else find old drafting equipment that just works better than the new stuff? What's your vintage find that beat modern gear?
