The old drafting board vs. CAD software is no contest for me
I started out in the early 80s on a drafting board at a small firm in Des Moines. Pencil, eraser, and a lot of patience compared to the AutoCAD I use now. The difference is night and day when you realize I could finish a set of plans in 3 hours that used to take me 2 full days. Has anyone else found a way to get CAD to handle hand-drawn notes better without losing the feel?

My drafting classes in 1995 had us trace lettering guides to mimic hand-drawn notes.

Right, because nothing says "cutting edge design" like carefully tracing letters while the world was literally downloading Netscape Navigator. Sounds less like drafting and more like a punishment for forgetting your T-square at home. At least you got some nice hand cramps out of it instead of just carpal tunnel from a mouse.
