Cable angle on the drag arm was my mistake for 2 years
I ran a dredge on the Mississippi near Baton Rouge and always had excess wear on the port side cable. Thought it was just the current pushing hard. Then a old timer came by and pointed out my drag arm sat 4 degrees off center, making the cable rub the fairlead. Checked it with a protractor, sure enough. Adjusted the mount and the wear dropped by half in about 30 hours of run time. Anyone else ever had a misaligned drag arm mess with their cable life?
