My old foreman in Mobile told me to always grease the swing bearing before the first bucket of the day, and after 3 years of skipping it, I finally seized one up last Tuesday.
The repair quote from the yard was over $8,500, so what's the one piece of maintenance advice you ignored that ended up costing you?

Listen to @chen.james about the filters. I skipped a coolant flush on my truck for years, thinking it was fine. That "fine" coolant ate a hole in my radiator and took the water pump with it.

That "over $8,500" quote hits hard. It's the boring, unseen maintenance that gets you. For me, it was ignoring the manual's schedule for replacing the hydraulic oil filters on a skid steer, not just checking the fluid level. The oil looked fine, so I ran it way too long. Ended up sending tiny bits of worn-out pump through every single valve bank. The repair bill made that box of filters look free.
