My uncle swore by using a garden hose to clear a clogged pump intake.

We were stuck on a job near Mobile, and he said to just jam the hose in there and crank the pressure. It worked for about ten seconds before the hose burst and soaked us both. What's the weirdest fix you've seen someone try that actually worked?

Honestly, was the pump that clogged or did he just want an excuse to mess with a hose?

Wrap the hose in a towel" is the part that got me. So the towel just gets soaked and heavy and does nothing. That's a whole new level of making things up on the spot. I can't believe that actually worked for someone. Sounds like a great way to ruin a towel and still get wet. Some fixes are just pure luck.

Seen that exact move. Next time, wrap the hose in a towel and use a lower pressure setting. Saves you from a surprise shower.
