Picked the 8 inch cutterhead over the 6 inch and saved my spring dredge run
Had to pick between an 8 inch cutterhead and a 6 inch for my 6 inch Keene dredge last month. Went with the 8 inch after a guy at the Sacramento show told me the bigger head chews through clay way better. Spent $400 more than I planned. First run on the American River, that thing ate through a clay shelf that used to stop me cold for 20 minutes. Took me 2 hours to clear a spot that used to take half a day. Worth every penny. Any of you running 8 inch heads on smaller dredges, or did I overdo it?
