Switched from a hand lead line to a marked pole on my 8 inch cutter and my depth calls got way tighter
For two seasons on the Calumet I called depths off a weighted line and thought I was doing fine until a leverman pointed out I was guessing at the splash mark in muddy water. I switched to a pole painted at one foot marks and my cuts came in within a couple inches instead of a foot off. Anybody else make that swap, and did you keep the line for backup or toss it in the locker?
