TIL running my dredge pump at half throttle actually moved more material
We were getting nowhere fast on a sandbar job in Memphis, so out of pure frustration I backed the pump down to about 1400 rpm just to save fuel. Turned out the slurry stopped slugging the hose and we moved 30% more yards before lunch. Anyone else find their sweet spot way lower than the book says?
Learned that same lesson with a pressure washer on a concrete job years back. Cranked it wide open and the wand was bouncing off the slab leaving streaks, backed it down and the tip just sat there eating through the crud clean. Too much flow and you're just throwing water at it instead of letting the machine work. Seems like everything with a pump has a spot where it breathes better, book numbers are just a starting point.
