Unpopular opinion: too many guys still run their ladder pumps by feel instead of a gauge
Had my 8 inch discharge line plug solid on Wednesday out at the Arkansas River job near Van Buren, and I caught it way later than I should have because I was going off sound instead of my vacuum gauge. Cost me four hours of downtime and a new wear plate on the 6x6 pump. Anyone else switch to watching the numbers, or do you all still trust your ear on the suction side?
Did you end up mounting the gauge where you can actually see it from the controls? I did that after a similar plug up and it saved my butt more than once. Ears lie when the pump starts cavitating, the needle don't.
