Dustless sanding setup that finally made sense after 3 jobs

I always wrote off the dust extractor hookup as overkill until I did a ceiling patch in a finished living room near Austin. The homeowner had a white couch right below the work area, and my regular vac left a fine layer everywhere. Hooked my sander to a HEPA vac with a 36mm hose, zero dust in the air after, cleaned up in 10 minutes instead of an hour. Has anyone else found a cheap adapter that works better than the brand name one?
