Heard a new guy say taping is 'easy' and I had to bite my tongue
I was grabbing mud at the supply house in Tulsa last Thursday and overheard some kid telling his buddy that hanging is the hard part and taping is just 'painting with mud'. I almost laughed out loud. Anyone who thinks taping is easy hasn't had to fix a bubbled corner bead or a knife edge that shows through after prime. Taping is where you separate the guys who get callbacks from the guys who don't. How many of you have had to rip out a whole room's worth of tape because someone rushed the coat?

Right there with you. That "painting with mud" line would've had me biting my tongue too, until I watched them try to fix a corner bead. Taping's the part that proves you actually know what you're doing, not just slapping stuff on a wall.
