Stopped by the new library branch downtown and the ceiling finish is the smoothest I've ever seen.

I asked the site manager and he said they used a 24-inch trowel with a special compound, so what's your go-to method for a truly flat finish on big commercial ceilings?

A 24-inch trowel is wild, I always thought you had to spray that stuff. That would probably save so much time on a big ceiling.

My first time using one I looked like a cartoon character fighting a giant sticker. Took me half a day just to get the mud to stop falling off the trowel onto my head. You save time on the ceiling but lose it cleaning your ears. Once you get the hang of it though, you can cover a whole room in a couple of passes. It's a game changer for flat work, just has a steep learning curve.
