Taping a ceiling seam in a Newark basement, my mud started setting up mid-pull
Last Tuesday I was taping a 12 foot ceiling seam in a basement job over in Newark and my mud went from smooth to stiff in about 15 minutes because the homeowner had the heat cranked to 78. I mixed a fresh batch thinner and worked in 4 foot sections instead of running the full seam at once, and it came out clean. Now I check the room temp before I even crack the bucket, since cold mud and hot rooms don't get along. Has anyone else had a batch go off on them like that, or do you just add water and keep moving?
