Why does everyone in Phoenix try to skip the pre-fill on textured ceilings?
Honestly, I see guys just slapping mud on and calling it a day, but you get those ugly flat spots every time. I learned the hard way on a job last week when the homeowner pointed out a patch that looked like a pancake. Anyone got a better spray texture gun they actually trust?

They skip it because it's a pain and they're rushing. A good spray gun helps, but you still have to do the prep work right. What gun are you looking at?

Exactly, the prep work is everything. Rushing through sanding or skipping primer just means the finish fails faster. A good gun lays down material smooth, but it can't fix a bad surface. People get obsessed with the tool and forget the hours of cleaning and sanding before you even pick it up. It's like trying to paint over dirt and expecting it to stick.

Oh I feel this in my bones. I once spent four hours prepping a floor and then two minutes bragging about how fast I laid it down. My back still hasn't forgiven me for that one.
