Ignored the $30 forehead thermometer, paid $280 at urgent care instead
I thought those cheap temple readers were gimmicks, but after my kid spiked a fever at 2am in Des Moines, a $30 gadget would've told me it wasn't an emergency. Has anyone else skipped a budget tool and then ate a bigger bill for it?

Honestly the cheap ones are super unreliable, mine said 99.2 when my kid was actually at 103.5 with the real thermometer. The urgent care visit at least got you a proper checkup and peace of mind, that's worth something. Maybe not $280 worth, but you didnt just gamble on a random reading either.
