Overheard someone brag about a $900 espresso machine at the office

I was in the break room last Tuesday and this guy from sales goes on about his new Breville setup, saying it pays for itself in a year. I did some quick math on my calculator app, and at $6 a latte from the place downtown, he'd need to skip about 150 cups a year just to break even. That's like 3 coffees a week every single week, plus he still buys beans for $18 a bag. Has anyone else priced out the real break-even point on fancy gear like that, or am I just being too picky about the numbers?
