Paid $300 for a storage unit to hold $40 worth of junk

Last March I rented a unit in Cleveland to keep an old broken treadmill and some damp boxes, then forgot about it for 8 months. Just cleared it out and realized the fees cost more than everything inside was worth, has anyone else ever done the math on their storage regrets?
