Bought a $30 avocado slicer at a Bed Bath in Nashua and it mangled 4 avocados before I tossed it

The blade only goes one way unless you press this dumb trigger and you still have to scoop the pit out with a spoon anyway. Just use a butter knife and a regular spoon like my mom does, am I missing something here?
