I finally figured out a 15 minute meal rotation that uses up random veggies

Got tired of throwing out half a zucchini or bell pepper every week. Last Tuesday I had a bunch of random stuff left - some mushrooms, half an onion, a couple of tomatoes. Threw them all in a pan with some pre-cooked sausage I had in the freezer, added a can of beans and some rice from the pantry. 15 minutes total and it was actually good. Anyone else do this kind of clean out the fridge dinner?

Oh gosh, this is exactly the kind of cooking I've been doing for years now. It's funny how something so simple really does change the way you look at food and waste. I think there's a bigger lesson here about how we're all trained to follow recipes like they're the law, when really cooking is just combining things that taste good together. Once you realize that, a whole world opens up. It's like how we do things in other parts of life too - we stick to the script instead of just making do with what's in front of us. This kind of fridge cleanout dinner is a small rebellion against all that unnecessary complication.

Used to be a total recipe cop. Followed every measurement to the letter. Took forever to realize I was just making expensive compost.
