My slow cooker died halfway through dinner last Tuesday and I had to finish a chuck roast in the microwave
I put it on low at 6am, came home at 5pm to find the thing cold and the meat still raw, so I nuked it in 3 minute bursts for 15 minutes and honestly it was fine, has anyone else had to rescue a meal with a microwave like that?

Did you check if the roast was even thawed all the way before you put it in the slow cooker that morning?

Oh man, that exact thing happened to me last year with a chuck roast I grabbed from the freezer. I was in such a rush that morning I didn't even check, just tossed it in frozen solid. After 8 hours on low it was still tough and kinda lukewarm in the middle, not good at all. What finally worked was letting it thaw in the fridge overnight and then searing it in a hot pan before putting it in the slow cooker the next morning. That sear made a huge difference for the texture and flavor. So yeah, I'd definitely say check the thaw first next time, it's worth the extra step.
