Pro tip: I bought a fancy meal kit box for a month and it was a total money pit

Spent about $80 a week on one of those pre-portioned dinner kits thinking it would save me time. The recipes were actually pretty complex, took me over an hour most nights, and I still had to buy extra stuff like oil or butter. After four weeks, I realized I'd dropped over $300 and was more stressed than before. I'm back to my old 20-minute pasta and jarred sauce routine. Has anyone else tried these and found a way to make them actually quick and cheap, or should we all just avoid them?

So skipping the recipes, did the pre-portioned ingredients actually help you cook faster?

The time part is definitely true... but you can actually skip the recipes and just use the ingredients your own way.

They're basically expensive cooking lessons.
