Rant: that time I nearly set off the smoke detector cooking frozen pizza
I was at my sister's place in Phoenix last Tuesday and tried to bake a frozen pizza at the temperature on the box, but the smoke detector went off after 12 minutes because her oven runs way hotter than mine, and now I always check my temp with a separate oven thermometer before putting anything in.

Nah I gotta push back on this one. My oven's probably 15 years old and the temp dial is mostly just a suggestion at this point but I've never had a problem with frozen pizzas. Just set it at 400 and check it a few minutes early if you're worried. The smoke detector going off is usually from grease buildup or crumbs on the bottom of the oven anyway not the actual temp.

Honestly I just read something the other day about how ovens can be off by up to 50 degrees, especially older gas ones, and that explains so many of my baking fails. Ngl that close call probably saved you from a real smoky kitchen or even a burnt pizza crust that tastes like ash. Tbh I keep a thermometer in my oven now too, and it's been a game changer for frozen pizzas and cookies alike.
