Rediscovered my rice cooker for one-pan meals last week

I was about to pitch my old rice cooker, but then I tried making a full dinner in it. Just threw in rice, chicken thighs, broccoli, and soy sauce. Set it and walked away for 25 minutes. Whole meal was done with zero pots to scrub. Has anyone else tried cooking complete meals in their rice cooker?

Oh man, right? It's funny how we overcomplicate cooking when the simplest tools work best. I've noticed this pattern everywhere - people buy all these fancy gadgets and expensive appliances, but the stuff our grandparents used is often better. My rice cooker has been a workhorse for years, no buttons or apps needed. Meanwhile I see friends with air fryers that cost a fortune and they barely use them. Sometimes the boring old stuff just gets the job done without the hype.

Dude yes, the rice cooker is a total lifesaver for lazy clean up nights.

Wait, are we really acting like throwing chicken and rice in a cooker is some kind of life hack? You basically made a slightly fancier version of what it already does. Sure it saves you a pot, but a sheet pan in the oven does the same thing and gives you better texture. I dunno, seems like people just want to feel proud about not cooking properly.
