Stumbled on a stat that blew my mind about meal planning
I read last week that the average family throws away $1,500 a year in uneaten groceries. That was the push I needed to actually follow those simple weeknight recipes instead of letting produce rot in my fridge. Anybody else get shocked by a food waste number?

Digging deeper into that $1,500 figure really makes you stop and think about how much of it is just fresh stuff we had good intentions for. Like bags of salad greens that turn into slime in three days or those avocados you swore you'd use for Tuesday tacos but forgot about until Thursday. The real kicker is that most of that wasted money is on produce and dairy, which are exactly the things we buy hoping to be healthier. So it's a double loss, both your wallet and your good eating habits taking a hit at the same time.

So how much of that waste is just overbuying on empty fridge hope?
