Takeout vs 20 minute pasta, I picked wrong last Tuesday

Last Tuesday I got home at 6:45 with zero energy and had to choose between calling for Thai or doing a quick garlic and olive oil spaghetti. I went with the pasta cause I had some leftover spinach and a lemon, figured it be faster than waiting 40 minutes for delivery. It actually came together in like 18 minutes and tasted way better than I expected, but the cleanup was annoying with the colander and pan. Now I'm wondering if anyone else swaps takeout for a quick pasta when they're beat, and what's your go to that takes less time than the delivery wait?

Tuesday at 6:45 is like the exact same time I always hit that wall, so I feel this. Honestly, I used to be the person who thought pasta was only worth it if you had like a full sauce going, but that garlic and oil thing with whatever greens are dying in the fridge changed my mind completely. My go-to is actually orzo with a can of chickpeas and a ton of parmesan, it’s done in like 15 minutes and I don’t even need a colander because the orzo soaks up most of the water. The cleanup thing you mentioned is real though, I’ve started just wiping the pan with a paper towel before washing so I don’t have to scrub all that oil. Delivery always takes 35 minutes minimum around here even when they say 25, so most nights the pasta wins just on time alone. I still order Thai on Fridays as a treat, but Tuesday me is all about the carbs.
