The $12 tortilla press I swore I'd never use is now a Tuesday staple
My sister in law gave me this cheap cast iron tortilla press two months ago and I rolled my eyes so hard. Tried it last week for chicken tacos and holy cow, fresh tortillas take like 4 minutes and taste 10 times better than the store ones. Anyone else have a gadget they ignored forever that turned into a regular thing?

And once you get past the plain white flour ones, that's when it REALLY gets dangerous. I started throwing in some chopped jalapeno and shredded cheddar right into the dough, and now my Tuesday tacos have turned into a whole production. The press itself is just the beginning, because then you need the comal or a cast iron pan that's properly seasoned, and before you know it you're keeping a bag of masa in the pantry like it's flour. The cleanup is the only part that still annoys me, but honestly, the smell of fresh tortillas hitting a hot pan makes up for every stuck piece of dough I've had to scrape off. I even made quesadillas with them last weekend and now the store ones taste like cardboard to me.
