Tried sheet pan vs skillet for salmon, skillet won big time

I cooked salmon two ways last week. Sheet pan took 20 minutes at 400°F but the skin got soggy. Skillet method with a little oil only took 8 minutes and it came out crispy on the outside. Anyone else ditch the oven for busy weeknights?

Had a buddy try the sheet pan method last month and his salmon came out so sad he fed it to his dog. Dog wouldn't even touch it. He's been team skillet ever since and now keeps a cast iron pan just for fish. Says the secret is getting the pan smoking hot before the salmon hits it.

I honestly thought I was the only one who couldn't get sheet pan salmon right. I mean, I tried it twice and both times the skin came out like wet cardboard, not exactly what I'm going for on a Tuesday night. The skillet is just way easier for me too, especially since I'm always rushing around after work. Maybe it's just me but I feel like the oven makes the house smell like fish for hours, and with a skillet you can at least air it out faster. Plus I can burn the butter a little bit on purpose and pretend it's fancy.
