Found out my 1950s bungalow has asbestos in the drywall compound after a simple hole patch
Went to hang a picture in my living room and the dust from drilling made me cough - tested it at the city lab downtown for $40 and got the shock of my life. Has anyone else found old surprises in their Edmonton reno projects?

$40 at the city lab seems like a lot just to test some drywall dust, are you sure the coughing wasn't just from regular drywall grit? I've patched a ton of old plaster in my day and never lost sleep over it, your mileage may vary.
