My dad yelled at me for painting over old caulk and now I never skip it

Six months ago I was redoing my bathroom in my house off Whyte Ave and I just painted straight over the old caulk like an idiot. My dad came by to see the progress and laughed at me for a solid 5 minutes before saying I'd have mold within a year. He made me scrape it all out, clean it with bleach, and re-caulk the whole tub. Now I actually pull out the old stuff every time and it looks way better. Ever have a family member call you out on something dumb and it actually fixed your process?

Sorry to be that person but bleach actually isn't the best for mold on caulk, it just bleaches the stains and doesn't kill the roots deep down. Did you ever end up using a specific mold killer or just the bleach on his advice?
