Picked LVP over tile for my Edmonton basement last fall
Tile was the plan for months. But at $5 a square foot installed vs LVP at $2.50, I went with the cheaper option. Now I'm finding dents from my office chair in high traffic spots. Has anyone else regretted a basement flooring choice?

Ngl the chair dents are a real kick in the pants. You probably went with a thinner wear layer, like 12 mil or less, which just cant handle the constant pressure from a rolling chair. Grab a hard floor mat from the office supply store, one of those clear polycarbonate ones, and itll spread out the weight so the planks stop buckling. Also check that your chair casters are soft rubber, not the hard plastic ones that dig in like little chisels. Easy fix once you know what to look for.

Wait, you're getting dents from an office chair on LVP? That seems crazy to me. I've got LVP in my basement too and I drag chairs around all the time with no issues. What kind of thickness did you go with, the cheap thin stuff or a decent wear layer? I bet thats the problem right there, you gotta spend a little more on the thicker planks if you want them to hold up.
