My boss chewed me out for using Wagos on a service call yesterday
He said if I really cared about my work I'd strip and twist every joint, so I asked him how many callbacks he got last month and he just walked away, anyone else run into old timers who hate modern connectors?

Nodded along reading this because I had almost the exact same thing happen last year. This old master electrician I worked with swore up and down that Wagos were garbage and would fail, but then I watched him spend 20 minutes trying to get a twisted joint to fit in a cramped box. I told him my Wagos have never caused a callback in three years, and he just grumbled something about "lazy kids these days." Meanwhile I'm out the door in half the time with no issues, but okay grandpa lol.

The thing is, that grumbling about "lazy kids" is just a cover for not wanting to learn something new. I've been in the trade for about fifteen years now and I still remember when my journeyman threw a fit over me using a drywall saw instead of a keyhole saw... he called it cheating too. But the reality is that Wagos are tested and rated for the exact same loads as wire nuts, and they meet code just fine. The only "failure" I've ever seen was an old loose connection that was the installer's fault, not the connector's. It's like people who insist on hand sanding everything when a power sander does the same job in a tenth of the time. We're getting paid to do a job right and get out, not to prove how tough we are by fighting with a box for twenty minutes.
