My boss in Charlotte wants us to use aluminum for a big apartment job, but I'm not sold on it.
Last week, we priced out a 200-unit building and he said the aluminum wire would save over $15,000. I get the cost thing, but I did a rewire three years ago on an older place and those aluminum connections gave us nothing but trouble with overheating. I'm worried we'll be called back for service all the time. What's your take on using aluminum for new residential builds now?

My buddy's place had an aluminum fire last year.

Was that from grinding? My friend's garage caught fire when some aluminum dust got near an outlet.

Our old shop teacher told us about a magnesium fire once.
