A customer's simple question about a cracked screen made me stop and think
I was fixing a tablet for a regular, just a basic screen swap. She asked if the old, cracked glass could be recycled into something, maybe sand for a beach project. I told her no, it just gets tossed with the other e-waste. She just nodded and said 'Shame, it's still pretty under all those cracks.' For some reason that stuck with me all week. I've probably thrown out a thousand screens without a second thought. Now I'm looking at the pile of dead parts differently, wondering what tiny bit could be saved or repurposed before it hits the bin. Has anyone found a good use for old display glass, or is it truly just trash?

Actually, that glass can sometimes be recycled. It's a special type, but some e-waste places do separate it. Might be worth checking with your local spot.

Special type" is right, I once tried to recycle a toaster thinking it was all metal. Good call by @kevin_wells46, I should maybe check before I just toss stuff.
