Changed my mind about using a heat gun on old TV boards
A tech in Tampa showed me how the localized heat can warp the fiberglass substrate, which explained my 40% failure rate on certain Sony models. Anyone have a better method for stubborn BGA rework on those?

Is the warping actually causing the failures, or is it just something you saw happen?

Look at my track record and you'll see I'm the common factor in every failure. I mean, I saw the warping right before things went wrong, but I also saw a weird cloud that morning. Maybe it's just me but I'm not a reliable witness here.
