DAE grab a fridge magnet when tiny parts go missing?

I was working on a speaker and a spring flew off. A fridge magnet found it quick, how do you handle small parts?

Ever seen mechanics use those telescoping magnets?

Honestly I used to think they were just a gimmick until I dropped a bolt deep into an engine bay. That little telescoping magnet saved me like an hour of trying to fish it out with my fingers or a bent coat hanger. Now I keep one in my own junk drawer at home. It's pulled out everything from keys behind the fridge to a wedding ring from a sink drain.
