Dust buildup on a 2011 LCD TV finally made sense to me

I picked up a used 43 inch LCD from a thrift store in Tacoma last month, and the picture was so dim I almost returned it. After pulling the back panel off, I saw this thick gray layer of dust caked over the LED strips and heat sinks, so I blew it out with my air compressor and wiped everything down with isopropyl. The brightness difference was night and day, like a full new panel, so has anyone else seen a huge jump in performance just from cleaning dust off the internals?

Man, I always figured dust was just cosmetic, but now I get why old TVs look so washed out. That cleanup sounds like it gave that panel a whole second life, pretty wild what a little maintenance can do.
