Found a trick for fixing loose headphone jacks with a toothpick

Spent 20 minutes trying to figure out why my left earbud kept cutting out and a guy at the repair shop said to shove a tiny piece of toothpick into the jack hole to tighten the connection, and it actually worked perfectly, has anyone else tried something that dumb that actually ended up fixing the problem?

Wait, did you have to be super careful not to break the toothpick off in there? My friend Mike tried that once with his gaming headset, and he pushed it in too deep. Then he couldn't get the tiny piece out and his jack got all jammed up. He ended up having to take the whole thing apart with tweezers and it took him like an hour. Idk, maybe I'm just clumsy but I'd be too scared to try it myself.

Three kids and a third of a toothpick later, I can confirm the trick works but only if you have the patience of a saint. I tried it on my kid's old tablet headphones after the left side started crackling, and I jammed that little sliver in there like I was building a tiny log cabin. Then I realized I couldn't get it back out, so now the jack is permanently wedged with a splinter. Honestly felt like I was performing surgery with a butter knife. At least the sound works now, but every time I plug it in I hold my breath and pray the thing doesn't snap off inside.
