I fixed two identical 2018 MacBook Airs with the same keyboard fault, but with different results.

On the first one, I used a generic replacement keyboard assembly from a supplier, and it started sticking again within 3 months. For the second, I paid the extra $40 for a pulled OEM part from a known-good donor machine, and it's been perfect for over a year now. Is the cost difference for genuine parts always worth it for long-term reliability?

Yeah that "long-term reliability" part is key, and I kinda agree with @calebb57 that luck plays a role, but your own test shows it's usually worth the extra cash.

Doubt it's always worth it, sometimes you just get lucky.

Feel like we're overthinking this. It's just stuff.
