Just came back from a repair meetup and saw 3 people get zapped by the same mistake

Went to a bench workshop in Portland last Saturday, the one at the community college annex. Three different folks, all working on old CRT monitors, all grabbed the anode cap without discharging first. Every single one got a solid jolt, one guy actually dropped his screwdriver and knocked a flyback transformer off the board. It's wild how many of us skip the simple discharge step when we're in a hurry. I've been doing this for 12 years and I still use a homemade discharge wand with an alligator clip every time. The shop owner finally taped a sign above the bench saying 'Discharge or regret' after the third zap. Has anyone else seen this kind of thing happen at group repair sessions, or am I just hanging with the wrong crowd?
