Switched from flux pens to a syringe after 12 years

Always thought flux pens were fine until I had to rework a tight spot on a laptop motherboard in Denver last month. Picked up a 10ml syringe of Amtech NC-559 at a local shop on a whim. Wipes clean way better and doesn't leave that sticky residue. Has anyone else found a specific tool they brushed off for years that actually made a difference?

Bet your iron tip lasts longer now too with less gunk buildup.

Did you always keep your iron tip so clean, or was it just me being lazy about it? I used to think it didn't really matter much, like a little gunk was no big deal. But after watching how fast my old tips wore down, I definitely see it different now. That sticky gunk acts like sandpaper over time, wearing away the coating way faster than it should. Now I give my tip a quick wipe on a wet sponge after every few joints, and it stays shiny and fresh much longer. Honestly, it's one of those small habits that makes a huge difference in the long run.
