The $40 hot air rework station from Amazon actually outlasted my $300 one
Tbh I bought the cheap one as a joke for a weekend board swap in Denver, but after 14 reflow jobs in 3 months it's still running dead silent while the expensive unit started whining on its 5th use, anyone else find budget gear hitting above its weight class?

Man thats wild. I had the opposite thing happen with a cheap soldering iron I grabbed for like 15 bucks, thing lasted through a whole car stereo install and two exhaust repairs before I lost it in a move. Meanwhile my buddy dropped 200 on a fancy station and the tip corroded in a week. Budget gear just hits different sometimes, its like the universe rewards you for not overthinking it.
