A building manager told me my hoistway cleaning was leaving a residue on the guide rails
He pointed out a faint, greasy film that was attracting dust. I switched from a standard solvent to an isopropyl alcohol wipe-down and it fixed the issue completely. Anyone else have a better method for keeping rails spotless without any buildup?

Had the same problem, switched to isopropyl wipes and it worked perfectly.

Just a heads up, isopropyl wipes are great but they can dry out rubber seals over time. A silicone-based lubricant after cleaning works better long-term.

Well, I guess my rubber seals are the dried out proof of that advice. Should have read the fine print a bit sooner. Live and learn, right?
